I took up woodworking in my early 20s and was fortunate enough to have an older gentleman, a highly experienced woodworker, offer to take me under his wing and teach me. He was a perfectionist and I learned a lot. By the time I was in my early 30s my career as an entrepreneur consumed my time and my woodshop became a storage room.
Now… 30 years later, having found myself retired slightly sooner than planned, I have re-discovered my hobby and am enjoying creating things. I have been making custom pens from exotic woods and acrylics as well as a few other things.
In the meantime, between turning out goodies on my lathe, I am gearing up for bigger things. Expanding my shop to accommodate more tools (I love tools), and making room for a fairly large laser engraver. I am itching to start playing with it! Er, I mean working with it.
